OUR HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
The Garden Cafe Timeline
Born in 1983 from the imagination of Peace Corps Volunteer, John Fisher, the Garden Café was originally a small “Snack Shack” made of bamboo and coconut lumber.
The original purpose of the Garden Café was as a vocational training center for a handful of young deaf adults.
Together with co-volunteer, Dennis Drake, John formed a nonprofit organization that owned and operated the snack shack. It turned out, however, that the termites loved the snack shack even more than the people…
